The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) on Sunday stayed till May 8 the High Court verdict that granted bail to Sohel Rana, owner of Rana Plaza which collapsed for faulty structure killing thousands, in a case filed for violating building construction rules which caused death of the people, reports BSS.
Justice Md Abu Zafar Siddique of the vacation chamber court of the apex court came up with the order after holding hearing on a state plea to stay his bail.
Earlier, Rana secured a bail from the High Court on April 6.
On April 24, 2013, at least 1,136 people were killed and 2,500 were injured when the 10-storied building (Rana Plaza) in Savar collapsed.
On April 29 the same year, Sohel Rana was arrested from Benapole in Jashore while fleeing to India.
