Hefjul Quran Competition ‘Quraner Noor’ has started under the support of country's leading industry group Bashundhara Group and organized by Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Musalli Committee.
The preliminary qualifying round of the Cumilla zone of the mega-reality show ‘Quraner Noor’ will continue throughout the day on Saturday.
Earlier, the Quran recitation contest was held in Mymensingh and Sylhet on February 9.
The primary selection contest of mega Islamic reality show in Cumilla region is held on Saturday.
Located in Badurtola area of the district, Nawab Faizunnesa Government Girls' High School housed the audition started at 7am.
Hafez Maulana Qari Mohammad Mubarak Hossain, coordinator of the contest, said contestants from six districts including Cumilla, Chandpur, Brahmanbaria, Noakhali, Lakshmipur and Feni, have participated in the contest.
Fahad Hussain, a Hafez of Jamia Islami Hilful Fuzul Qauni Madrasa, said “Taking part in the big contest, I am feeling great. Five Hafezes from my madrasa joined the competition.”
Hafezes of 30 Para Quran aged below 15, from 11 zones including two zones from Dhaka, are participating in the competition. Three best Hafezes from each nine zones, will enter the second round. From the two zones of Dhaka, nine of Dhaka north and nine of Dhaka south totalising 18 Hafezes will show up for the second round. All 45 contestants will vie for the final round. From the contestants, the panel judges will select five Hafez in the final contest.
Mahmudul Hasan Ifaz, a volunteer involved with contest registration, said six booths were established to decentralize the registration. Visiting the school premises, it was seen that contestants along with their guardians and teachers flocked to the contest place.
A celestial atmosphere persisted in the place with little Hafezes remaining busy with registration and some others vying at the six booths in front of the judges.
On February 1, Baitul Mukarram office of Islamic Foundation in the capital announced the contest through a press conference.
Musalli Committee Chief Adviser and Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir was present at the press conference.
As per condition of the contest, any Hafiz, aged below 15, can participate in it.
Top 45 contestants will participate in the second round of the competition. A panel comprising noted Islamic scholars will shortlist top finalists. The champion of the competition will be awarded Tk 1 million.
The recorded programme will be aired on News24 television channel from the first day of Ramadan and video features on the participants will be streamed on YouTube.
