Bashundhara Eye Hospital and Research Institute (BEHRI) has provided free treatments to over 2200 people in Barura upazila of Cumilla on Friday as part of its eye camp programme across the country.
Local organisation AKM Abu Taher Foundation and Vision Care Foundation supported the day-long camp at Payalgacha Postgraduate College in the area, said a news release.
The patients received necessary medicines at free of cost while free surgery has been provided to those suffering from eye problems such as cataracts and macular degeneration along with spectacles services.
BEHRI founding director Professor Dr Md Saleh Ahmed supervised the 12-member medical team led by Dr Ripon Ali.
Regarding the eye camp, Abu Taher Foundation chief sponsor Zakaria Taher Sumon expressed gratitude to Bashundhara Eye Hospital and Research Institute and Vision Care Foundation for providing free eye treatment here.
“Many people than we expected have come here to take service. We hope that we can do such service activities jointly in the future,” he said.
The beneficiaries, most of whom are poor and low-income group, expressed their gratitude by getting these free services from 8 am to 3 pm.
