Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal said his commission will be very happy if BNP participates in the next parliamentary elections.
“The election commission is prepared to hold a free, fair and neutral election. If BNP participates in the next polls we will be very happy. If the election is not competitive, then it will not reflect the real opinion of the people.”
The CEC made the remarks while briefing the media after a meeting with the law enforcers at the conference room of the Rangpur deputy commissioner's office on Tuesday.
He also urged the political parties to create a congenial atmosphere to make the people election-oriented.
Habibul Awal hoped that there will be no deterioration of the law order in the upcoming Rangpur City Corporation polls.
