A union parishad chairman was shot dead in broad daylight by the miscreants at Mirzachar union under Raipura upazila of Narsingdi on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Zafor Ikbal Manik, son of the late Abdul Motaleb. He was also the president of Mirzachar union Jubo League.
Confirming the incident, deceased brother Barson Mia alleged that supporters of former Mirzachar union chairman and union Awami League general secretary Firoz Mia shot Zafor Ikbal at a meeting in the afternoon over the previous enmity.
Raipura circle additional superintendent of police Satyajit Ghose said the police force has been to the spot to know the details and avert an untoward incident further.
