The United Arab Emirate (UAE) Ambassador in Dhaka Abdulla Ali AlHmoudi has said partnership between his country and Bangladesh has reached a new height in recent years, reports BSS.
"The mutual visits of the leaders and officials of the two countries, and the ever-increasing levels of trade, economic and cultural exchange, are powerful indicators that stand witness to the strength of bilateral relations (between Bangladesh and UAE) in various fields," he said.
The envoy was speaking at a reception hosted by UAE embassy in the capital celebrating the 51st National Day of UAE on Thursday amid great festivities and enthusiasm at a city hotel.
In his welcome speech, AlHmoudi mentioned the UAE's remarkable achievements over the past 50 years. The UAE envoy also highlighted the glorious journey of UAE ties with Bangladesh since independence.
On this historic occasion, the envoy said, the UAE and Bangladesh enjoy deep-rooted historical relations since 1971 and both of the governments strengthened the bilateral relations in various sectors.
The ties between the UAE and Bangladesh are based on the principles of cooperation and mutual respect, he observed.
The ambassador said the UAE is one of the most resilient countries globally in handling and responding to the COVID-19 pandemic as the country turns challenges into opportunities.
"The UAE has ranked 11th on the nation brand index due to our successful handling of Covid-19 and pioneering achievements in science and education, such as the successful Emirates Mars Mission," he added.
The envoy said his country supports diplomacy over conflict, partnership over unilateralism, and dialogue over confrontation.
The UAE believes that the world cannot tolerate more polarization and confrontation, and that the coming decades need more communication, integration and cooperation in the political, economic, technological, health and food fields, he added.
