The nationwide drive started on Thursday as the police headquarters instructed all the heads of police units of the country and district superintendents of police to conduct a nationwide drive from December 1 to 15.
An office order sent to the Police Headquarters revealed this information on Tuesday.
The order said considering the incident of snatching two convicted militants from police custody in the Dhaka CMM Court area on November 20, taking the smooth celebration of Victory Day, Christmas and the 31st night into cognizance, the initiative was taken to conduct drive from December 1 to 15.
Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Manzoor Rahman of the Media and Public Relations Department of Police Headquarters, said, "This is not a special drive, it is a routine work of the police. The instruction has been given to check any untoward incident because of important events in December, including the upcoming Martyrs Intellectual Day and Victory Day.”
