Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen emphasized cooperation among the member states of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) to ensure inclusive development by facing the challenges of climate change.
He said this while inaugurating the 22nd IORA Council of Ministers meeting in the capital.
Foreign ministers of the IORA countries and concerned ministers attended the meeting.
Momen sought everyone’s support and contribution to take IORA to a new height.
Mentioning the measures taken by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to achieve Sustainable Development Goals, the foreign minister stressed regional cooperation and exchanging experience of inventory capacity among the IORA member states.
The foreign minister said it is important to rethink the intra-IORA trade and investment dynamics and adopt an approach that would help untap the trade and investment potential. Strengthening economic relations among IORA member states through a regional trade agreement and the elimination of intra-IORA trade and investment barriers are now more important than ever.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Sharier Alam was present at the meeting.
