Two militants, who were sentenced to death for killing publisher Faisal Arefin Dipan, fled from the Dhaka court premises on Sunday.
The absconding convicts are Moinul Hasan Shamim alias Samir alias Imran, and Abu Siddiq Sohel alias Sakib, members of banned militant group Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB).
The incident took place when they were coming out from the Anti-terrorism Special Tribunal in Dhaka at around 1.40pm. The two convicted millitants spray some liquids over the face of the polices and fled away when the police members got unprepared.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Deputy Commissioner (Media) Md Faruk Hossain confirmed the matter to the media.
On February 10 last year, a Dhaka tribunal sentenced eight members of the banned militant group to death for killing Dipan in October 2015.
