Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Indian Border Security Force (BSF) agreed to bring down border killing to zero.
The consensus came from a five-day regional commander-level border conference between the two forces that ended in Kolkata on Wednesday, said a BGB press release on Thursday, reports BSS.
Both sides agreed to bring down the killing, injuring and beating of unarmed nationals of both countries to zero by adopting extra precautionary measures along the border.
An 11-member Bangladesh delegation led by BGB North-West Region, Rangpur Commander Brigadier General ABM Nowroj Ehsan joined the conference while Dr Atul Fulzele, Inspector General of the BSF South Bengal frontier led the 12- member delegation.
The two sides also agreed to conduct joint patrolling at risky bordering areas, strengthen awareness-raising programmes and take up various socio-economic development programmes.
