Three cases have been filed against more than 400 people in connection with Friday's clash between BNP men and police in Banshkhali upazila of Chattogram, reports UNB.
Police filed two of the cases at Banshkhali Police Station on Friday night and another one Saturday morning, Kamal Uddin, officer-in-charge of the police station said.
Over 400 BNP men including the former minister and president of Chattogram South District BNP Zafrul Islam Chowdhury, convener Abu Sufian and member secretary Mostak Ahmed have been named in the cases.
On Friday afternoon, Banskhali upazila and municipality BNP held a rally as part of the protest programme against the price hikes of daily essentials, fuels and transport fares, as well as load shedding and the killing of two BNP leaders in Bhola.
Police said the leaders and activists vandalized vehicles on the road and pelted brickbats targeting police, which prompted them to fire rubber bullets and lobbed tear gas shells, triggering a clash that left at least 40 people injured.
