Ukraine’s largest children’s hospital in Kyiv is hit by a Russian missile barrage that targeted several other cities, Al Jazeera reports.
At least 31 people have been killed and 112 wounded across Ukraine, officials say, as Ukraine President Volodomyr Zelenskyy vows revenge and urges allies to expedite missile defense systems.
Five cities – Kyiv, Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, Slovyansk, Kramatorsk – were among those hit as Ukraine says it shot down 30 of 38 missiles launched by Russia.
Russia denied carrying out strikes on civilian infrastructure calling it “absolutely untrue”, and alleged damage was caused by a Ukraine anti-aircraft missile that failed and fell back into Kyiv.
The UN Security Council will meet on Tuesday – at the request of Britain, France, Ecuador, Slovenia and the United States – over the “cowardly and depraved” attacks.
