US air strikes on Iraq and Syria are violations of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the two countries, Iran said, reports Al Jazeera.
Iran foreign ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani, in a statement, said the attacks also violated international law and the United Nations Charter.
The US air strikes represented “another adventurous and strategic mistake by the United States that will result only in increased tension in instability in the region”, Kanaani said.
“The attacks merely support the goals of the Zionist regime. Such attacks increasingly involve the US government in the region and overshadow the crimes of the Zionist regime in Gaza.”
The US military launched attacks against more than 85 targets allegedly linked to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corp (IRGC) and the fighters it supports overnight, in retaliation for last weekend’s drone attack in Jordan that killed three US troops.
