The number of automatically issued certificates, licences and permits (CLP) from the Bangladesh Single Window (BSW) system being implemented by the National Board of Revenue (NBR) has already crossed one lakh, reports BSS.
As a partner of this success, the NBR congratulated the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA), Directorate of Drug Administration (DGDA), Directorate of Explosives (DOEX), Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), Bangladesh National Authority for Chemical Weapons Convention (BNACWC), Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) and Department of Environment (DoE) for going Go-Live last month, said a press release on Wednesday.
The NBR made a soft launching of the BSW on January 2, 2025, bringing seven customs agencies under one system, in a bid to ease the import and export processes for businesses.
The project, which was undertaken in 2017, aims to streamlining trade operations by ultimately combining the activities of 19 agencies related to customs under one system.
The NBR has also expected that the remaining 12 agencies will be able to provide CLP through the BSW system for customs clearance of import and export goods soon.
To realise the full potential of the BSW, it is crucial for the NBR and the associated agencies to expedite the integration process, ensure system security, provide adequate training to stakeholders, and establish robust monitoring mechanisms to oversee the system’s performance and address any emerging issues promptly, analysts said.
