BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus's visit to China is 'positive' for improving relations between the two countries.
He said, “BNP is positive about improving bilateral relations during Dr. Yunus' visit to China. It is important to build good relations with China for geopolitical reasons.”
He said this while talking to reporters at a press conference at the BNP Chairperson's office in Gulshan on Sunday. Mirza Fakhrul also stressed the significance of maintaining diplomatic relations with important neighboring countries like China, India, Pakistan and Myanmar.
Regarding the national election, he said, “Some quarters consciously want to postpone the election. If there are obstacles in the elections, we will have to take to the streets. BNP is not talking about elections to come to power, but for the legitimacy of the people. The strength of an elected government and the strength of an unelected government are not the same.”
