BNP's Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said that defeated forces have disseminated false information and made New York Times to report it.
He said, “The allies of fascism own thousands of crores of illegal money and they are trying to tarnish Bangladesh by using those illegal money.”
Saying that the Awami League (AL) coordinators are disseminating false and fabricated information, he said, “Sheikh Hasina staged drama in the name of suppressing terrorist.”
He identified Hasina’s act as a strategy of ‘staying in power. He referred a book written by a former Inspector General of Police (IGP), saying, “It has also been mentioned in the book of former IGP.”
He made the statements on Wednesday morning during a discussion session with media personals held at BNP’s central office at Naya Paltan, Dhaka.
The senior politician said, “There has been no rise of extremism in Bangladesh. On the contrary, there is no threat of fascism in Bangladesh at present, people are practicing their religion freely.”
“They are able to speak. They celebrated Eid without fear. There was no violence of fascism. In the past, no one could celebrate Eid with ease,” he continued.
AL is not waiting idle rather spending black money to tarnish country’s image, he said adding, “AL is tarnishing Bangladesh’s image by amassing illegal money and engaging in subversive activities.”
AL shown no regret in any of its statements regarding murder of Mugdho-Faiyas on the order of Sheikh Hasina, he continued, adding that the AL leaders who fled the country are trying to create unrest in the country.
He highlighted the need of restoring the democratic system to hold the government accountable. He said, “It is malicious that some of the advisers are defaming BNP without doing their job.”
In his speech, he called the government to implement necessary reforms as soon as possible and to hold the national parliament election. He said, “An elected government is legitimate government.”
“Delaying the election is not acceptable to the common people,” he said, adding that if the election date is not declared then it will create confusion among people.
At last, he urged the chief adviser Dr Muhammd Yunus to take necessary steps in this regard.
