Mentioning that misleading information is being spread over their demand for elections, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that the BNP never demanded elections before reformations.
“We have said about the minimal reformations which are needed for holding free and fair polls. It is the BNP who demanded the reformations first,” he said.
Fakhrul came up with the assertion while exchanging views with the journalists at his Thakurgaon residence on Wednesday morning.
Claiming that BNP is being targeted, the secretary general said campaign is being spread on social media targeting BNP saying the party wants elections before reformations. Or it wants only elections not reformations which is a blatant lie.
“I clearly said that a misconception is being created among the people.”
“Those who came for reforms, we respect them. However, if they do something beyond the aspiration of the people, BNP can’t support that,” he asserted.
District and upazila BNP leaders and activists were present at that time.
