BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman has extended his greetings and panegyrics to the Muslim Ummah across the globe including Bangladesh, on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
He made the congratulatory statement in a post on social media platform Facebook on Sunday noon.
The BNP leader said, “After the month-long fasting through learning the lessons of sacrifice, piety and restraint, the holy Eid-ul-Fitr has brought a message of universal unity, solidarity, compassion and unending joy to the Muslim Ummah, in addition to beautifying and purifying the lives of individuals, families, society and the state.”
“On the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, I extend my sincere greetings, congratulations and mubarakbad to the Muslim Ummah, including Bangladeshi Muslims,” he continued.
“Eid Mubarak,” the senior political figure addressed the countrymen as well as the global Muslim Ummah.
Mentioning the month-long sacrifice of Muslims, he said that after a month-long fasting, Muslims celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with hearts overflowing with joy, aiming to purify and moderate their personal lives.
Mentioning that the fascist Sheikh Hasina was ousted through a mass upsurge after her one and half decade-long fascism, he highlighted that this Eid is more special as people of the country are set to observe it in a sovereign, democratic environment, free from the fear of disappearances, murders, and kidnappings.
“This year’s Eid festivities have been infused with a new level of joy, excitement, and enthusiasm.”
Even in the time of sacred joy and unrestrained festivity, many mothers, families find no happiness as they lost their loved ones during the one and half decade-long oppression of fascist government including enforced disappearance, killings, abductions and tortures, he said.
During the upsurge alone, the bullets of fascist government have claimed thousands of lives, and injured over 20,000 including students, public, youth, farmers, workers, political activists, bystanders, women, children and elderly person, the acting chairman said.
“The families of the victims of the anti-fascist movement do not have the unbridled joy today.”
Even on Eid day, there may be tears in the eyes of mother and family members who have lost their beloved ones, Tarique continued adding that many will spend the Eid day sitting next to their beloved ones who are undergoing treatment after being injured in brutality of fascist government during July-August upsurge.
"Through the pure joy of Eid-ul-Fitr, an important message reaches to humanity that- we are all for everyone.” he said.
Tarique Rahman said, the message of Eid inspires a sense of close brotherhood by overcoming mental ugliness, injustice and cruel social inequality.
“And being imbued with this inspiration, it is our duty as Muslims to extend a helping hand and compassion to the relatively poor, neglected and deprived people of the society," he said.
He wished happiness, peace, progress and prosperity of the people of Bangladesh and Muslim Ummah across the world.
