Five people, including a child, were killed as a truck crashed into a private car on Dhaka-Sylhet Highway at Unishmile in Osmaninagar upazila of Sylhet district on Sunday.
Four of the deceased were identified as Sohel, 40, Shamima, 40, Ety Begum, 35, and Ayan, 7, while the identity of another victim could not be known yet.
“The accident occurred around 7:30 am when the truck hit the private car, leaving two people killed on the spot and three others injured,” said Md Ashrafuzzaman, superintendent of Osmaninagar-Biswanath circle police.
The injured were taken to a local hospital where the other victims succumbed to their injuries.
