The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her daughter Saima Wazed Putul, and 14 others on charges of corruption and abuse of power in the allocation of 60-katha plots in the Purbachal New Town Project.
ACC Director General Md Akhtar Hossain confirmed the matter to the media on Sunday.
The lawsuit has been filed under sections 161/163/164/409/109 of the Penal Code, 1860, and Section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947.
Putul was made the prime accused, while Hasina was the second accused in the case.
According to the allegations, former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, through the abuse of power as well as irregularities and corruption, allocated six plots (10 katha for each) in her name and in the names of her family members in connivance with high officials of the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha.
The plots are located at the Diplomatic Zone under Sector-27 and on Road-203 of the Purbachal New Town Project.
On December 26 last year, the ACC announced its decision to investigate allegations of corruption and abuse of power against Hasina and her family members regarding the allocation of residential plots in Purbachal.
