The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has heightened security arrangements across the city to ensure public safety and law and order, said a police statement.
"As part of the move, coordinated check posts and patrol activities have been increased in coordination with the DMP and other law enforcement agencies," it said.
According to the Crime Command and Control Center of DMP, 667 patrol teams of DMP performed duties in two shifts for public safety in 50 police stations of the DMP from 12:01 am to 11:59 pm on Monday (March 4, 2025). Out of these, 340 teams performed duties at night and 327 teams performed duties during the day.
The patrol teams include 479 mobile patrol teams, 73 foot patrol teams and 115 motorcycle patrol teams.
In addition, 71 police check posts are operated by the DMP at various important and strategic locations to enhance security in the metropolitan area.
Along with the DMP, 14 CTTC patrol teams in two shifts, 12 Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) patrol teams in three shifts and 10 RAB patrol teams with the DMP are on duty at various crime-prone areas of the metropolis, and 20 check posts are operated by the APBn, a specialized unit of the police.
In the last 24 hours, 181 people involved in various crimes were arrested in eighty-three operations combing operations in different places in the city.
The arrested include seven robbers, 18 professional active muggers, three extortionists, 11 thieves, 27 individuals wanted in previous cases, 31 identified drug dealers.
With the latest figure, 1967 crime suspects have so far been arrested in the last eight days.
In the operation, four knives, a chapati, two hasua, five mobile phone sets, Tk 8.080 in cash were seized.
In addition, the recovered drugs include around 5kg of marijuana, 3236 pieces of yaba and five bottles of foreign liquor.
In the last 24 hours, 63 cases were registered at different police stations of DMP.
