The Metropolitan Special Judge Court on Tuesday ordered to freeze 14 bank accounts of Shuchona Foundation of Saima Wazed Putul, South East Asian regional director of the World Health Organization (WHO) and daughter of ousted prime minister the fascist Sheikh Hasina.
Md Zakir Hossain Galib, judge of the court, passed the order following a petition submitted by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). The balance of these accounts is Tk48.35 crore, reports BSS.
The ACC, in its application, told the court that Saima Wazed Putul was appointed as the regional director of the WHO in connivance with her mother Sheikh Hasina defying the rules, principals and ethics of the deed of the WHO.
She has already transferred hundreds of crores of Taka abroad through laundering after misappropriating the money from different government projects utilising the illegal power of her mother.
The ACC investigator during its primary inquiry came to know that Putul and other personalities related to Shuchona Foundation are trying to hand over and transfer the moveable properties of the foundation.
According to the ACC plea, it would be very difficult for the investigators to recover the properties if they can transfer or hand it over, adding that is why those bank accounts should be frozen.
