Dr Khalilur Rahman, Chief Adviser's High Representative for the Rohingya Issue and Priority Affairs, has been appointed as the national security adviser.
The Cabinet Division on Wednesday issued a notification revising his designation to National Security Adviser and High Representative on Rohingya Problem and Priority Issues.
The notification also highlighted that he will assist the chief adviser in fulfilling duties related to the Ministry of Defence.
Khalilur was initially appointed as the Chief Adviser’s High Representative on Rohingya Issue and Priority Affairs on 19 November,2024, with the status, salary, allowances and facilities equivalent to that of an adviser.
His expanded role underscores the government’s confidence in his leadership and expertise in addressing critical national and international challenges.
Besides overseeing the Rohingya crisis and other priority matters, Dr Khalilur Rahman will play a key role in defining Bangladesh’s national security policies.
