The dismissed BDR members and the family members of the BDRs detained in prison have formed a human chain with a three-point demand. The human chain was held in front of Raju Sculpture on Sunday at the initiative of the BDR Welfare Council, Dhaka District.
Abu Hanif, a member of the higher council and media coordinator of Gano Odhikar Parishad said at the human chain, "The Awami League government carried out this murder in 2009 in a planned manner with the help of India to prolong its power after coming to power in 2008. The Awami League then tried to create a narrative that it was a BDR rebellion, but in fact it was not a BDR rebellion; rather it was a planned murder with the help of India. We are saying clearly that the innocent members of the BDR must be released. Those who have been unfairly dismissed must be reinstated."
He also said, "Those who were involved in that murder must be brought to justice through a proper investigation. There is a bail hearing on January 19, all those who are wrongfully detained in prison must be granted bail. If bail is not granted, the legal advisor must resign. The commission investigating the BDR mutiny must work with transparency and the controversial clause there must be repealed.”
