Inquilab Mancha leaders and activists staged a protest at Dhaka's Kakrail Mosque intersection on Sunday, issuing a seven-day ultimatum to the interim government to fulfill their three-point demands. The group warned that if their demands are not met, they will surround the Secretariat and hold a sit-in protest on December 29 at 1 PM.
Earlier in the day, the leaders had submitted their demands to a representative of the Chief Adviser. Spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi stated, “We have conveyed our demands, and the representative assured us of a follow-up after discussing them with the Chief Adviser. We are giving the government seven days to act.”
The protest began around 12:30 PM with a procession from the Shahbagh National Museum. The group marched past Matsyabhaban, reaching Kakrail Mosque by 1:00 PM, where they were stopped by police and APBN forces. Despite the intervention, the protesters continued with a sit-in demonstration.
By 3:30 PM, the group had blocked the road by lying on the intersection, causing minor disruptions as vehicles were diverted. In a speech, Hadi outlined three key demands: the immediate cancellation of the Awami League’s registration, the arrest of individuals allegedly affiliated with the Awami League, and protection for all "July fighters," including private university students.
At around 4:45 PM, Inquilab Mancha leaders reaffirmed their stance and announced a new program, emphasizing the seven-day deadline for the government to address their concerns. Hadi warned that further actions, including roadblocks and a hunger strike, would follow if the demands were not met.
