A large number of Maulana Saad Kandhalvi faction of the Tablighi Jamaat gathered at Kakrail Mosque for Jummah prayers on Friday, with additional forces deployed to ensure security in the area, reports Dhaka Tribune.
Early in the morning, Maulana Saad's followers started arriving in the Kakrail area, gradually increasing their numbers until the entire vicinity was filled.
By 11am, the Kakrail area was crowded with thousands of people.
The worshippers extended beyond the mosque premises, covering the main road, crossing the chief justice's residence, and reaching the Kakrail intersection to perform their Jummah prayers.
For the safety of Maulana Saad's followers, access to paths near Kakrail Mosque, Ramna, and the chief adviser's residence was restricted.
Over a hundred members of law enforcement were deployed in the area.
According to the arrangement, the Tablighi Jamaat’s two groups—followers of Maulana Zubair and Maulana Saad—carry out their activities alternately at Kakrail Mosque, with Maulana Zubair's followers staying for four weeks and Maulana Saad's followers for two weeks.
Following this system, Saad followers took their turn at Kakrail Mosque on Friday.
