Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) has been working relentlessly for making the city streets safe for both the users and pedestrians through ensuring proper traffic management. BSS reports.
Already, many of the city dwellers have started getting benefits as time-fitting measures were taken to free the Shaheb Bazar area from traffic congestion after consultation with senior citizens and business leaders.
RMP Commissioner Muhammad Abu Sufiyan made the observation while addressing a workshop related to creating awareness among the drivers and owners of easy-bike and auto-rickshaw here on Thursday.
The Traffic Division of RMP and Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) jointly organized the workshop at the conference hall of RCCI with participation of around 200 drivers and owners.
Deputy Commissioner (Traffic) of RMP Nur Alam Siddiqui and RCCI President Masudur Rahman, among others, also spoke. Commissioner Abu Sufiyan said they have taken initiatives to make the movement of pedestrians and other public in general easier through freeing the city streets from traffic congestion.
To attain the cherished goal, the RMP has adopted a six-point plan effective under proper traffic management.
Restriction has been imposed on car parking on both sides of main roads and in front of the shopping malls. No vendor shops will be allowed in the vacant spaces of Shaheb Bazar Boro Mosque other than the private car parking.
Abu Sufiyan urged all concerned to follow the adopted plans and warned that legal action will be taken against the violations of the instructions.
Massive awareness among the public in general about traffic rules, regular training for drivers and necessary infrastructure can be the crucial means of preventing road traffic accidents.
There is no way but to raise awareness among the masses to prevent road accidents which is a matter of grave concern.
