Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) held a meeting with bus owners and workers to bring discipline on the streets in the city by ensuring systematic traffic management, reports BSS.
Speaking as the chief guest, Additional Commissioner (traffic) Khondkar Nazmul Hasan called upon bus owners, drivers and workers to be cautious to avoid accident.
"If everyone works sincerely and carefully, it will be possible to make the city's traffic congestion at a tolerable level . . . Traffic Division will provide assistance to them (transport workers) if required," he added.
Placing some directives and suggestions to bus owners for maintaining traffic rules on roads, the additional commissioner said vehicles without fitness will not be allowed to ply on the streets.
He also urged transport workers not to stop vehicles in the middle of the roads and park transport on the roadside haphazardly.
Traffic Division Mirpur organised the view-exchange meeting at Gabtali Bus Terminal on Friday evening on the occasion of the Traffic Pakkha-2024.
Deputy Police Commissioner of Traffic Division Mirpur AFM Tariq Hossain Khan and Hanif Enterprise Chairman Alhaj Md Kofil Uddin were present as special guests.
Bus-Truck Owners Association President Babu Ramesh Chandra Ghosh presided over the meeting moderated by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Traffic Division Mirpur Yasina Ferdous.
Chairman of Hanif Enterprises Alhaj Md Kofil Uddin declared Gabtoli bus terminal as extortion free.
Rover scouts and students were present at the event.
The Traffic Pakkha-2024 began on October 21 with a view to raising mass awareness, improving traffic management and restoring discipline on the roads in the capital.
