The government has shut down internet connectivity on mobile networks across the country without prior announcement.
State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak said mobile internet service has been shut due to current situation over anti-quota movement.
He said internet service will be normal in convenient time.
Meanwhile, rights body activists stated that the shutdown of internet without notice is a direct violation of human rights in the current context of a connected society.
The Association of Mobile Telecom Operators of Bangladesh (AMTOB), the trade body of mobile network operators, refused to comment in this regard.
