Amidst failure in ICC Champions Trophy, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has decided to increase the salary and the match fees of the cricketers, reports BSS.
In a Monday meeting, the board decided to pay little more than other cricketers.
Cricketers earn Taka two lakh as match fee for T20, Taka three lakh for ODI and Taka six lakh for Test at this moment. Although the match fee was proposed to increase last year, finally it didn't happen but a performance bonus was decided to add.
A total of 21 cricketers were given central contracts but the BCB did not disclose their remuneration.
The names of those who will be in the central contract this year were finalized in today's meeting. However, the BCB did not say how many players will be in the contract.
After the board meeting, BCB's Cricket Operations Chairman Nazmul Abedin Fahim said: “There is obviously a number that how many players will be in the central contract. But I do not want to disclose it at this moment because the number may increase or decrease after review. But all I can say that it has been approved.”
At the same time, Fahim confirmed the increase in the salaries and match fees of the cricketers: “The salaries have increased, the match fees have also increased.”
This increase for Test cricketers is a little more than others, he added.
“We want to keep their interest through this. The cricketers under contract will receive increased salaries from January this year,” Fahim continued.
The board has approved the salary contract for 100 first class cricketers for the year 2025.
The BCB is also satisfied with the national team's coaching staff. Head Coach Phil Simmons and Senior Assistant Coach Mohammad Salahuddin have contracts until the Champions Trophy.
The BCB is interested in renewing their contracts, Fahim revealed.
"We are satisfied with the (coaches) who are with us at the moment. We will contact them again," he informed.
"If we can't reach a consensus, we will have to look for someone from outside. However, we hope that there will be no problem in reaching a consensus through satisfactory discussions with those who were with us," he said, adding that the BCB is looking for a high-quality fielding coach also.
The board accepted the resignation of national team selector Hannan Sarkar who had left the post to focus on coaching career.
The BCB has also started the search for a third selector along with Gazi Ashraf Hossain and Abdur Razzak.
In the 18th board meeting, the BCB approved the formation of the BCB Welfare Trust and the Trustee members.
The board also approved the appointment of former national athlete and Olympian Fouzia Huda Jui as the National Women's Team Strength & Conditioning Coach for six months.
The international cricket stadium at Purbachal, currently an ongoing project, has been renamed National Cricket Ground (NCG).
