The second edition of the Embassy Cricket Carnival has been held to strengthen mutual relations, tourism, sports, and diplomacy.
The two-day tournament featured 14 teams comprising embassy officials. The event was organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh and Gameplay Ltd.
The grand finale took place on Saturday at the cricket ground of Bashundhara Sports Complex, where Pakistan secured the championship by defeating the last edition’s finalist, the United States, in a dominant display.
Pakistan posted a massive total of 204 runs after opting to bat first. In response, the U.S. fell short, managing only 142 runs in the allotted 10 overs, handing Pakistan a commanding 61-run victory.
Following the tournament, the winners were honoured with awards. Distinguished guests at the ceremony included Md. Nazrul Islam, secretary (East) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Mohammad Wasif, deputy high commissioner of the Pakistan Embassy; Per Ikgren, consular of the Swedish Embassy; Delton Sanros, U.S. Representative; Daily Sun Editor Rezaul Karim Lotus; Stefan Masse, general manager of The Westin Dhaka; and Bashundhara Group’s AGM A.R. Mallick Roni, among others.
