Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Adviser of the interim government, will distribute the Ekushey Padak on Thursday.
Senior Assistant Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, Fayez Ahmed, confirmed this information on Wednesday.
The award ceremony will take place at 11 AM on Thursday at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital.
In recognition of their significant contributions in various fields, the government has decided to honor 18 distinguished individuals and groups with the Ekushey Padak this year.
The award recipients are: Film: Azizur Rahman (posthumously), Music: Ustad Nirad Baran Barua (posthumously) and Ferdous Ara, Photography: Nasir Ali Mamun, Fine Arts: Rokeya Sultana, Journalism: Mahfuz Ullah (posthumously), Research: Moeedul Hasan, Education: Dr. Niaz Zaman, Science and Technology: Mehdi Hasan Khan (team leader), Rifat Nabi (team member), Md. Tanbin Islam Siam (team member), and Shabab Mustafa (team member), Social Work: Mohammad Yusuf Chowdhury (posthumously), Language and Literature: Helal Hafiz (posthumous) and Shahidul Zahir (Md. Shahidul Haque) (posthumously), Journalism and Human Rights: Mahmudur Rahman, Culture and Education: Dr. Shahidul Alam, Sports: Bangladesh National Women’s Football Team.
