A Dhaka court on Wednesday placed former state minister for industries, Kamal Ahmed Majumder, on a five-day remand in connection with the murder of Anwar Hossain Patwari. The incident occurred in the Golchattar area under Mirpur Model Police Station during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate MA Azharul Islam passed the order after police produced Majumder before the court and pleaded to place him on a five-day remand a five-day remand, reports BSS.
Dhaka Metropolitan Public Prosecutor Omar Faruk Farooqui conducted the remand hearing.
Police arrested Kamal Ahmed Majumder from the capital's Gulshan area on the night of October 19. He was later shown arrested and placed on remand in multiple cases.
According to the case statement, Anwar Hossain Patwari was shot dead in Mirpur's Golchattar area on August 5, the same day the Awami League government was overthrown amid the anti-discrimination student protests.
His father, Al Amin Patwari, later filed a murder case with Mirpur Model Police Station in connection with the incident.
