A team of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has seized two sacks containing 48 items potentially linked to alleged corrupt acts committed by former police chief AKM Shahidul Hoque.
In the early hours of today (February 19), working on a tip-off, the team conducted a raid at the residence of one of Shahidul’s relatives and recovered the sacks, the state-run corruption watchdog told reporters.
ACC Assistant Director Rakibul Hayat led a five-member team during the raid.
While probing Shahidul’s alleged involvement in corruption during the Awami League regime, ACC learnt of two suspicious sacks.
The ex-IGP first sent the two sacks to a relative’s house, then relocated these to another relative’s house, according to intelligence reports.
Shahidul relocated the documents in the sacks repeatedly to evade legal scrutiny, the ACC has learnt.
The documents include classified contracts, deeds of agreement, bond papers, FDR-related documents, bank statements and more.
