Adviser Mahfuj Alam has asserted that the youth of Bangladesh have made their mark on the international stage through the July Uprising, reports UNB.
He made this statement on Tuesday while speaking as the chief guest at the Youth Festival organized by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting at the Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB).
Referring to the July Uprising as the “Second Independence,” the Adviser said: “Through this uprising, the youth have ousted the fascist Awami League government. This is a global event.”
He further stated: “Under the leadership of one party, one country, and one leader, Sheikh Hasina has governed the country. She has placed the administration under the control of her party. Using the state's finances, Sheikh Hasina has nurtured ideological goons in the administration, police, and law enforcement agencies. These ideological goons have abducted, killed, and tortured thousands of people in Bangladesh.”
Mahfuj emphasized the need to free the people from the toxic influence of fascist ideologies. “We need to create a new Bangladesh through a new political arrangement,” he added.
CA’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam remarked in his special guest speech: “The youth led the July Uprising. The main purpose of the Youth Festival is to rekindle this spirit of youth. The youth participated in the festival spontaneously, and this has revitalized the young generation.”
After the discussion session, the Adviser inaugurated the “Chitralekha July Uprising” exhibition, followed by a documentary on the July Uprising.
