Vanderbilt University was fined $500,000 by the Southeastern Conference on Sunday for allowing fans to storm the court following the Commodores' 74-69 victory over No. 9 Kentucky on Saturday. This marks Vanderbilt's third violation under the SEC's revised access-to-competition-area policy.
The fine follows a $100,000 penalty imposed in October when fans rushed the field after a 40-35 football victory over Alabama. The university was hit with a $250,000 fine just last week when fans celebrated a win over No. 6 Tennessee by storming the basketball court.
Future violations will result in the same $500,000 fine, with the proceeds being paid to the University of Kentucky.
