Tamim Iqbal, former Bangladesh opener and current skipper of Fortune Barishal, had a heated exchange of words with Dhaka’s Sabbir Rahman during their match at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Thursday.
“Sabbir amar songe lagte aiso na ekjon aichilo dekho nai (Sabbir, don’t come and have a fight with me, haven’t you seen what happened to someone who tried to do that),” Tamim was heard saying to Sabbir according to stump mic.
The incident did not take any uglier turn, courtesy Dhaka skipper Thisara Perera and umpires as the former came quickly towards Sabbir when he was rushing from the boundary while the latter intervened so that no unpleasant scene take place at the middle of the game.
Meanwhile, Tamim also did not had any time to take the prize from the hand of BCB president Faruque Ahmed, who was apparently taking time to come to the dais.
It was learnt Faruque did try to call Tamim in the dais but apparently he was reluctant and as a result Najmul Hossain received the prize.
