Jason Roy, England’s World Cup-winning batsman, has expressed regret over his exclusion from the national team, despite consistently performing in the ODI format. While he is unclear about the reasons behind his omission, he remains hopeful and eager for a return to the England squad if given the opportunity.
In a recent media interview, Roy said, “I have no regrets about not being selected for the Champions Trophy. It would have been nice to be part of the squad, but I still believe I’m playing good cricket. The decision is in the hands of the selectors. The team has been giving opportunities to young cricketers, which is great for the future. That said, it’s still hard for me to accept being left out.”
Reflecting on the challenges of the past few years, Roy added, “The last few years have been tough—being dropped from the national team and going through a breakup. But I’ve come to terms with it. I’m now enjoying life, playing in various franchise leagues across the world, and I’m content with where I am.”
Despite his exclusion from the Champions Trophy squad, Roy remains optimistic about England’s chances in the upcoming tournament. “I believe England will be the champions. While every team is playing great cricket, it’s hard to pick one standout. England has a lot of promising young players, and if they perform, I’m confident they will take the title.”
Roy’s continued passion for representing England is evident, and although he’s not currently part of the squad, he remains a strong supporter of his country’s cricketing future.
