Rangpur Riders defeated Dhaka Capital by a big margin in the Sylhet phase of the BPL. With this victory, Rangpur won five consecutive matches in the tournament.
On the other hand, Dhaka lost four consecutive matches.
Chasing a target of 112 runs set by Dhaka at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, the Global Super League champions reached the victory-land with 7 wickets and 40 balls in hand.
Chasing 112 runs, however, Rangpur did not get off to a good start. Azizul Hakim Tamim, who was called up in his first two matches in the BPL, got 5 runs on Tuesday.
On the other hand, Alex Hales, the centurion of the last match, who was in great form, exhibited attacking batting. However, he missed the fifty for 6 runs. The former England National team opener laid the foundation for the victory before returning for 44 runs with 4 fours and 3 sixes at a strike rate of 162.96.
Later, Saif Hasan was dismissed for 13 runs, but two Pakistani recruit, Khushdil Shah and Iftikhar Ahmed did the rest of the work. Khushdil remained unbeaten on 27 runs and Iftikhar remained unbeaten on 9 runs.
Earlier, Jason Roy opened with Habibur Rahman Sohan in search of victory for Dhaka. Together, the two made the team's highest partnership of 28 runs.
When Sohan fell to Aqib Javed for 14 runs, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, who had opened in the last three matches, made the second highest partnership of 26 runs with Roy.
However, after Roy was dismissed for 18 runs, Dhaka found themselves in ruins, losing wickets one after another. There was doubt whether the team would be able to score a hundred runs after losing 6 wickets on 74 runs. However, in the end, they were able to score 111 runs thanks to Alauddin Babu's 16 runs and Mosaddek Hossain Saikat’s cameo, who was called up for this year's BPL on Tuesday.
Pacer Nahid Rana took 3 wickets for 21 runs for Rangpur. Pakistani bowlers Aqib and Khushdil Shah took two wickets each.
