Sabbir Rahman, a player for Dhaka Capitals in the ongoing BPL, has come under scrutiny for disciplinary reasons.
The team’s head coach Khaled Mahmud Sujon addressed the issue during a press briefing on Monday at Sylhet International Stadium, ahead of their match against Rangpur Riders.
When discussing the team’s performance, Sujon said, “We undoubtedly have a strong team with players like Tamim and Liton. As for Sabbir, we haven’t been able to include him due to the team’s combination. There are also some other matters that have been discussed on Facebook and elsewhere.”
Sujon elaborated on Sabbir’s absence from practice sessions, saying, “Not everyone is aware of all internal issues. As the coach, I make decisions alongside the captain, and there are also training-related considerations. Sabbir missed practice before both the second and third matches. His absence on January 1, following the New Year celebrations, was particularly concerning and led to him being left out of the playing XI on January 2. This is undoubtedly a disciplinary matter.”
“He is a quality player, and we hope to include him in tomorrow’s match. His experience can strengthen our middle order, where we are currently struggling. I wanted to clarify why he hasn’t been playing. Hopefully, we will benefit from his presence starting tomorrow.”
The 33-year-old, who has represented Bangladesh in 11 Tests, 66 ODIs, and 48 T20Is, has faced disciplinary controversies throughout his career.
