Ghanaian forward Samuel Boateng scored a double hat trick to earn 6-1 goals win for Rahamatganj Muslim Friends Society against Dhaka Wanderers Club in their first-leg match of the ongoing Bashundhara Group Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024-25 at the Shaheed Bir Shreshtha Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj on Saturday.
Samuel, who made the BPL debut in this ongoing edition, scored six goals in the 23rd, 37th, 44th, 63rd, 66th, and 70th minutes respectively while forward Saief Samsud netted the consolation goal for Wanderers in the 50th minute.
The Ghanaian forward became the second player to score a double hat trick in the 18 years history of the BPL after Paul Nwachukwu of Mohammedan Sporting Club Ltd who scored the first double hat trick of this top-tier league, which was known as B League that time, in April 2007 in a match against Rahamatganj.
However, Farashganj Sporting Club’s Enamul Haque (in 2009), Mohammedan’s Jahid Hasan Ameli (in 2020), Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra’s Mithun Chowdhury (in 2014), and Mohammedan’s Souleymane Diabate (2023-24) scored five-goal each in a single match.
In the day’s other match, 10-man Mohammedan beat Chittagong Abahoni Ltd by 5-1 goals at the Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh.
Mohammedan were reduced to 10-man when their defender Shakil Ahad Topu conceded two yellow cards within seven minutes (15th and 22nd minutes) of the first half.
Forward Sourav Dewan scored a brace in the 63rd and 90th minutes while West African defender Mounzir Coulidiati and Nigerian forward Sunday Chukwuemeka Emmanuel added each for the traditional black and white in the 47th and 55th minutes.
Chittagong Abahoni Salim Reza scored an own goal to extend the lead for Mohammedan in the 85th minute.
Chittagong Abahoni midfielder Imtiaz Sultan Jitu scored a consolation goal converting a penalty in the 90+5th minute.
