Durbar Rajshahi’s Taskin Ahmed recorded the best bowling figure of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) history as he picked up seven wickets against Dhaka Capitals at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Thursday.
Taskin conceded 19 runs from his 4 overs for his 7 wickets on the day, overtaking Mohammad Amir’s 6/18 against Rajshahi Royals in 2020 to claim the best bowling figure in the tournament's history.
This is also the third-best bowling figure in recognized T20 cricket history. Syazrul Idrus of Malaysia holds the record of best bowling figure (7 for 8) in T20 cricket.
Also, Taskin's 7 for 19 is now the best bowling figure by any Bangladesh bowler in recognized T20. He overtook Shakib Al Hasan's 6 for 6 against Trinidad & Tobago Red Steel playing for Barbados Tridents in Caribbean Premier League (CPL) in 2013.
Taskin picked up four wickets in his first three overs. In his final over of the Dhaka innings, he claimed three more wickets giving away only two runs.
He was sitting on a hattrick at one stage but Nazmul Islam prevented that taking a single in the fourth delivery of the over.
