Pakistani left-arm fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi is set to feature for Fortune Barishal in the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), the country’s lone franchise-based T20 tournament.
Fortune Barishal, the defending BPL champions, announced it on Wednesday.
The BPL is scheduled to begin on 30 December with seven teams—Dhaka Capitals, Chittagong Kings, Durbar Rajshahi, Fortune Barishal, Khulna Tigers, Rangpur Riders, and Sylhet Strikers—will compete against one another over six weeks of matches, with the season finale scheduled for 7 February.
The season begins in Dhaka, then moves to Sylhet and Chattogram before returning to Dhaka for the final rounds.
Group stage matches will open in Mirpur, hosting the first eight games, before moving to Sylhet, where matches will run during 6-13 January.
Chattogram will then take over from 16 January to 23 January, with the remaining games returning to Dhaka on 26 January.
The season’s closing week will feature the eliminator match on 3 February in the afternoon, followed by the first qualifier that same evening.
After a rest day, the second qualifier will take place on 5 February, leading to the final showdown on 7 February.
