Five-time champions Bashundhara Kings punished Rahamatganj Muslim Friends Society by 4-1 goals in their first-leg home match of the ongoing Bashundhara Group Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024-25 at the Bashundhara Kings Arena in Dhaka on Saturday.
Brazilian midfielders Jonathan da Silveira Fernandes, Miguel Figueira, midfielder Md Sohel Rana, and defender Tapu Barman scored one each in the 10th, 45+1st, 53rd, and 76th minutes.
Forward Nabib Newaz Ziban scored for Rahamatganj MFS in the 12th minute.
The defending champions were off to a winning start in the league after crushing Chittagong Abahani Ltd by 7-0 goals at their home but suffered a shocking defeat to Mohammedan Sporting Club Ltd by 0-1 goal in the away match at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla.
The day’s victory sent the holders to the third spot of the 10-team leaderboard with 6 points from two wins and a defeat.
On the other hand, Rahamatganj MFS remained the same third with their previous credit of 6 points from two wins and a defeat. They beat Fortis Football Club and Chittagong Abahani by 3-1 and 2-0 goals in their first two matches respectively.
