Following a disappointing ODI series whitewash, Bangladesh is determined to rebound as they prepare for the T20 series against the West Indies. Speaking ahead of the opening match in St. Vincent, opener Soumya Sarkar expressed confidence in the team’s ability to deliver.
“The T20 series starts tomorrow. It’s not about who’s the bigger or smaller team—it’s about who performs better across 20 or 40 overs on the day,” Soumya remarked.
Acknowledging the team’s recent struggles, Soumya remains optimistic. “If we excel in all three areas—batting, bowling, and fielding—and work together, we can beat them comfortably. The West Indies are strong in T20 cricket, but if we play our best, we can win,” he asserted.
Soumya also found positives in the ODI series despite the losses. “We didn’t do well in the last two or three series, but our batsmen scored three hundreds, which is encouraging,” he said.
Bangladesh’s bowling unit, however, came under fire after conceding 321 runs in the final ODI, sealing another defeat. Soumya believes in their ability to recover, adding, “Our bowlers have always been dependable. They may have struggled recently, but I expect a strong comeback in the T20s. If the batsmen keep scoring 300-plus runs like in the ODIs, it will be a good series for both batsmen and bowlers.”
With renewed focus and determination, Bangladesh is eager to leave the ODI disappointment behind and make a strong statement in the T20 format.
