Bangladesh Under-19 captain Azizul Hakim Tamim vowed to come all guns blazing when his side will take on India in the final of the ACC Asia Cup on Sunday at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, reports BSS.
The young Tigers moved to the final of the Asia Cup for the second consecutive time, thrashing Pakistan by seven wickets today. India also secured a seven-wicket margin victory over Sri Lanka for their final berth.
"We will try to give our best in the final. We are determined and united. Everyone is motivated to do well. We hope our countrymen will support us and pray for us," Hakim said in a video message sent by BCB after his side defeated Pakistan in the semi-final clash.
Bangladesh bowlers did extremely well to wrap up Pakistan for just 116 runs, a score that they later gunned down in just 22.3 overs with Hakim playing the vital role. The captain hammered 42 ball-61 not out to sail the side home, that gave Bangladesh an opportunity to defend the title.
"It feels good that we won the match today. We won the toss first and from then on by the grace of Allah, everything went well and was in our favor. All the bowlers did very well. Especially Emon, Maruf, and others. They bowled very well. Thanks to their performance we were able to get them all out for 116 runs," Hakim remarked.
"I had a message for them (teammates), I said that we will move forward according to our plan. We will shrink the number of the mistakes that we have made in the group phase. We have shown that we learnt from the mistakes. I am also feeling good after playing a good knock today. It feels very good to win for the team, to win for the country."
Pacer Iqbal Hossain Emon was the hero with the bowling as he claimed 4-24 to keep Pakistan at bay. He was eventually named man of the match. The elated pacer said that he was happy to perform for the team.
"The wicket was really good today. It was pace-friendly wicket. I tried to be disciplined in maintaining the line and length and land the ball in a certain place. I am successful in executing the plan," he said.
"I am very excited, very happy to be the man of the match. But more importantly I could contribute something for the side and it made me happier. My performance added value to the team..this feels good."
