Rangpur won the title of first edition of NCL T20 by defeating Dhaka Metro by 5 wickets in the final.
Dhaka Metro lost the toss and elected to bat first and were bundled out for just 62 runs in the match held in Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday. Rangpur won the match with 52 balls to spare and 5 wickets in hand.
Rangpur did not start chasing the easy target well. Opener Mamun returned to the dressing room after scoring just 2 runs. Naeem Hasan returned empty-handed after playing 3 balls. Another opener Mohammad Rizwan was out for 9 runs off 18 balls.
And when captain Akbar Ali was out for a duck, Rangpur lost 4 wickets for just 18 runs. However, Ariful Haque took the team on the road to victory by scoring 14 runs off 11 balls. In the end, Rangpur won with 52 balls to spare, relying on 8 runs from Tanvir Haider and 14 runs from Enamul Haque.
Earlier, Dhaka Metro suffered a batting disaster after losing 4 wickets for just 8 runs. The capital’s team managed to score only 62 runs in 16.3 overs. Shamsur Rahman Shuvo played the highest innings of 14 runs and Abu Haider Rony scored 13 runs. Mukidul Islam and Alauddin Babu took three wickets each for Rangpur. In addition, Rabiul Haque, Mohammad Rizwan and Arif Ahmed took one wicket each.
