Japan government will provide a grant of $ 3.24 million to Bangladesh for the Fourth Primary Education Development Programme (PEDP-4), reports BSS.
The programme is being implemented by the Directorate of Primary Education under the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, a PID handout said on Monday.
According to the handout, agreements in this regard were signed between Bangladesh and Japan on December 19.
Secretary of the Economic Relations Division Md Shahriar Kader Siddiky, and Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Iwama Kiminori and Chief Representative of JICA in Dhaka Ichiguchi Tomohide signed the instruments on their respective sides.
The 'PEDP-4' programme is being implemented for the period from July 2018 to June 2025. Japan has already provided a total of 2,000 million Japanese yen as grant assistance for the programme in the last four years.
The grant assistance for the 5th year will be used for financial and budget management and teacher training and professional development, the handout said.
