American Airlines grounded all its flights at the start of Christmas Eve - one of the busiest travel days of the year because of a "technical issue", BBC reported.

Delta Airlines was among other operators that were impacted - with more than 42,000 flights were delayed and over 4,700 cancelled worldwide.
