BNP Standing Committee member Selima Rahman said if the unrest, mob justice, and rape of women cannot be stopped, the dream of building a new Bangladesh free from fascism will not be realized, reports UNB.
"In the July uprising, our youths brought new independence to the country with their blood. The fascist government was forced to resign and flee. Then why are women still being raped? Women are being harassed in buses and on the streets. Incidents of mob justice are increasing," she on Saturday said.
Selima Rahman was addressing a brief rally organized by the Jatiyatabadi Mahila Dal in front of the BNP central office at Naya Paltan this morning on the occasion of International Women's Day.
More than a hundred women members of the Mahila Dal, dressed in purple sarees, participated in it.
In his speech, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed strongly protested the rise of mob culture.
Jatiyatabadi Mahila Dal president Afroza Abbas chaired the rally which was moderated by its General Secretary Sultana Ahmed.
After the rally, a procession was brought out from the intersection of Nightingale Restaurant in Kakrail and it ended coming in front of the Naya Paltan office.
